Using Ward Off
Today, the focus was on using the energy of ward off. There’s a difference between what is done in push and what is done in ward off. They look similar. The intent and the direction of force are different. With ward off, there should be the intent of a slight bounce — not sharp but not remaining connected, pushing away with an upward angle. This is different than press – which wants to stay connected. Push takes a downward direction.
We worked on sets 6, 7, and 8 with a focus on keeping the heels well connected and extending through the body.
